Introduction

The American School of Tegucigalpa serves its Pre-School, Elementary, Middle, and High School populations through two distict libraries. One library is designated for Pre-School and Elementary age students while the second is designated for Middle and High School students. Our AST community, including alumni, parents, and staff, are welcomed users and may check materials out for pre-defined loan periods. The Jefferson-Valle Media Center was established in 2008 and is dedicated to the bicultural relationship on which our school was founded and continues to develop. The Center was named in recognition of the shared qualities of Thomas Jefferson and José Cecilio del Valle; both exemplary citizens who supported and advocated for the classic arts.

Mission

The libraries’ main objective is to collect, preserve, and provide access to materials that support the school’s curriculum, instruct students in research techniques, promote reading with top-quality recreational materials, and provide up-dated information.
