My name is Mr. Blake Swanson, and I have had the pleasure of being at this prestigious institution, initially as a teacher and then as the High School Principal. I would like to welcome you to our website and thank you for your interest in our school.
The American School of Tegucigalpa offers students the opportunity to earn a total of three diplomas upon completion of their high school careers: the American School of Tegucigalpa High School diploma, the Honduran Bachillerato, and the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma. Our rigorous IB program requires our students to stretch academically, meeting higher levels of responsibility, time management and work load.
Our curriculum allows students to conduct research, explore, analyze and create as part of their learning process. Technology is incorporated into the classrooms by providing electronic boards, projectors and computers. We also provide an excellent athletic program which develops our boys and girls into excellent athletes who know how to work as a team giving their all for the benefit of the team, as well as the meaning of good sportsmanship and “fair play”. Many academic extracurricular activities as well as debate clubs give the students invaluable opportunities to participate in national and international events where they successfully represent their school and country.
Some of the qualities that make our institution special are the countless hours our staff and students dedicate to our community and a spirit of service that would ensure that the leaders of tomorrow that are in our classrooms of today, will be people of substance and of character. In addition to this, our accelerated curriculum is designed to educate, challenge, inspire and prepare our students for their higher education goals. Our mission as education professionals is to prepare our students for the road ahead, by developing skills necessary to adapt and succeed in a rapidly changing world.
If this sounds like the educational institution to which you would like to entrust your child’s future, please refer to our FAQ (https://amschool.org/about/faq) segment in our “About” tab of our home page for helpful hints.
